Symbols in The Robber Bridegroom

When you first read a book ,novel, comic, or newspaper, you don't really see the symbols. But once you read it more closely that  symbol are hidden in plain sight. In one such example, in The Grimm Brothers The Robber Bridegroom, the bird in the cage represents being trapped. In the story the bride hears a voice crying out " turn back, turn back, you young bridge. You're in a murderer's house." as a warning to not get killed. But, both brides simply ignore the warning, both brides ending up getting killed and eaten by the robber.

  1. No they don't. Only one young girl gets eaten in the story. The protagonist is rescued by an old lady and she goes home to tell her father the story. The robber/cannibal/murderers are executed.
